2005 Canadian Car of the Year Contenders
![]() July 21, 2021 -- Test Fest comes around every fall and again this year, October 27 – 30, 2004, when more than 50 of Canada’s top automotive writers, including the staff of CarTest.ca, will once again meet, this time to evaluate hundreds of new 2005 model vehicles over a four-day period.
Manufacturers will bring two or three models each of over 60 candidates to the testing headquarters at Shannonville Motor Sports Park near Belleville, Ont., for evaluation on local roads and the track.
The purpose? Based on back-to-back comparative testing, members of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) select the “best new” vehicles in several categories as well as an overall Canadian Car of the Year and Truck of the Year. The testing program includes "real world" driving on public roads -- where you, the consumer, drives.
On December 7, 2004, category winners will be announced and the comparative vote results posted to the AJAC web site at www.ajac.ca for your use as a resource / buying guide.
The overall Canadian Car of the Year and the Canadian Truck of the Year will be announced February 16, 2005, during the first media day of the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.
