2008 Canadian Car of the Year Winners

The 2008 Honda Accord EX Sedan was named the 'Best New Family Car' for 2008 by the members of AJAC.Every year, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) picks the best new vehicles in a dozen different 'Canadian Car of the Year' categories. The awards program provides consumers with sound, comparative information on vehicles that are new to the market.

Testing for 2008 involved the evaluation by more than 70 journalists of 177 new 2008 vehicles back-to-back over four days at an event simply known as 'TestFest'.

AJAC's 2008 'Best New' category winners are:

Small Car -- Saturn Astra

Family Car -- Honda Accord EX Sedan

Luxury Car -- Mercedes-Benz C Class

Prestige Car over $75,000 -- Audi R8

Sports/Performance Car under $50,000 -- Mini Cooper S

Sports/Performance Car over $50,000 -- Audi S5

Convertible -- BMW 335i Cabriolet

Minivan -- Hyundai Entourage

Pickup Truck -- Chevrolet Silverado

SUV/CUV under $35,000 -- Nissan Rogue

SUV/CUV $35,000-$60,000 -- Saturn Vue

SUV/CUV over $60,000 -- Buick Enclave.

The overall car and utility vehicle of the year are the Audi R8 and the Chevrolet Silverado.
