Somewhere beyond Earth's firmament, Zora Arkus-Duntov must be smiling. The engineer credited with turning the Chevrolet Corvette into a street and racing icon has had his most rousing nameplate, the Grand Sport, return for 2010. Of course, the new Grand Sport pays homage to the original in name only. 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

The average consumer in North America, including myself, knows little about the tires they drive on every day. What exactly makes a performance tire perform or a quality tire better than others? To help answer such questions in respect to winter tires, Cooper Tires of Findlay, OH, invited members of the media to the Smithers Winter Test Center in Sault St. Marie, MI, so that they could explain what they think makes a Cooper value-performance tire. It truly is a small world after all when General Motors' cornerstone division produces a vehicle for both European and Asian markets before firing up production on our shores. Welcome to the global edition of the Chevrolet Cruze. Bringing the Cruze to market in this fashion is currently the Big Thing for North American automakers. 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Now, that's a relief. For a while it appeared as though both the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger - with their more potent engines - were going to dine on the carcass of the Ford Mustang. But seemingly from out of nowhere, Ford's pony will strut its stuff with punchier and more fuel efficient powerplants that should keep this war horse as spirited and relevant as ever. 2011 Ford Mustang

Hyundai calls the design of the sixth-generation Sonata "Fluidic Sculpture," but it might as well be called "a touch of Mercedes-Benz CLS." Each of these disparate vehicles features similar side-sheetmetal contours and a sweeping roofline that somewhat creates the illusion of a two-door coupe. Of course, no one is really going to be taken in by this stylistic slight of hand, but the high-waisted design is certainly an attention getter. 2011 Hyundai Sonata

The fix is in at Jeep. That is, the wholesale revisions, updates and various high-tech additions to the fourth-generation Grand Cherokee give this wagon added passenger comfort, carrying capacity and off-road capability. The iconic Jeep brand is a dominant anchor of the new Chrysler-Fiat management group, which is counting on the Grand Cherokee to knock one out of the park. 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
DRIVING TIPS
Driving can be stressful, since people can become very impatient, selfish and discourteous when behind the wheel. By applying the principles of Zen, however, you can eliminate road rage and make driving an enjoyable, relaxing experience, no matter how everyone else is driving. Zen driving

This twin turbo luxury coupe is a symbol of British ingenuity and quality, with a touch of German engineering. Looked upon as a symbol of class and refinement, this is a car that you cannot help but stare at as it passes by. Twin Turbo

It was designed in Germany and is already a big hit in China, but will the Buick Regal connect with buyers in Canada? There's a lot riding on the answer to this question, both for General Motors' senior division as well as for the corporation itself as the Regal prepares for its early-2010 arrival. 2011 Buick Regal

One of the more muscular and longest-serving members of the Kia family is changing its stripes along with its country of origin. Yes, the Sorento, Kia's truckish sport utility vehicle that specialized in travelling well past the point where the pavement or the trail ends, has become a lot more civilized as it prepares to enter the 2011 model year in early 2010. 2011 Kia Sorento

You can't please all the people all of the time as Honda discovered after releasing pre-launch photos of its new Accord Crosstour. The entire Internet blogosphere seemed to erupt with armchair automotive stylists waxing non-poetic and generally not-fit-to-print criticisms concerning the Crosstour's looks. 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

Volkswagen has seemingly pulled a Rabbit out of its hat and turned it into a Golf. That bit of slight of hand has revealed an all new hatchback and at the same time restores the Golf (German for gulf) name as the company's cornerstone brand in North America. 2010 Volkswagen Golf

For big jobs that require brute strength along with equal measures of style and comfort, the tough new 2010 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty fits the bill in a very big way. The full-size Ram 2500 and 3500 models are truly imposing pickups that, with their abundance of firepower, appear ready and willing to devour every other pickup on the market. 2010 Dodge Ram HD

To be a minivan these days could mean fading into the sunset with few people giving a second look. Or . . . this could happen. Rather than turning tail on the category, the new Toyota Sienna will show that, while wagons seem to be today's cool conveyance, minivans can still kick some tailgate. 2011 Toyota Sienna
